SEMOC One, two, three, mobility without stress! This is what is promoted in the booklet (educational guide) that, from our experiences after 4 years of work, allows us to provide global strategies to the almost 180 public and private schools in Bucaramanga.
Globally, there is a wide range of possibilities in mobility, in Colombia the reality is not entirely different. Bucaramanga being a small city, has affected its main and alternative routes due to the exponential population growth rate that involves the acquisition of private vehicles; that is why the traffic at specific times, as at the beginning of the school and work day (6: 00 am to 8:00 am), lunch time (12:00 am to 2:00 pm), and end of the day (6:00 pm to 8:00 pm), generates chaos, due to the agglomeration of vehicles, as well as risk behaviors by drivers and pedestrians.
We have been participating in YOUR Ideas YOUR Initiatives sharing our contributions since 2016.
For the year 2016, the identification of the problem focused on the internal mobility of the Caldas Institute, through the application of a diagnostic survey aimed to parents, students and employees, we managed to identify some mobility problems, in addition to road safety deficiencies . For this reason, we set ourselves the objective of promoting road awareness in students, teachers, parents and visitors, even without having consolidated the research center. Allowing change paradigms in terms of behavior learned when transporting and moving around our city and our school, achieved that "traces for future generations" (the program launched this year) will have a great impact on the culture of the whole Caldas community. Learning to move through pedestrian areas, paths, follow the tracks and necessarily get to the zebra to cross, made from the smallest, to the largest, we raised the possibility of a “yes we can” be friendly with mobility in our spaces .
Thinking for 2017 in the creation of the Seedbed, made SEMOC was recognized locally. Merging the work of the research area and the OIKOS Ecological Group, made mobility go beyond the frontier of the media and the use of networks. Through different media it could be implemented by gamification and digital games, the duty to be at the time of mobilizing through our roads and in a pedestrian way.
This is how "Forbidden Crossing" in the year 2018 allowed the outside of the school to make great strides in the mobility of our external community. The trainings, augmented reality games, interactive and pedagogical campaigns, Apps and again the gamification, were recognized at departmental level as evidenced by the recognition made by the most recognized newspapers in the city: Vanguardia: https://bit.ly/2VG1Reb and Periodico 15: https://bit.ly/30EQmaq besides the divulgation in the website of the Bucaramanga University: https://bit.ly/2HQ8kyu. Also, since 2018, we have been working on the repository of all the ideas and proposals, some of them already materialized, resulting in great advances in our internal mobility, as well as in the intervention of mobility in different places near our school (Shopping Center Cacique).
By 2019, with all these proposals and success that we have had as a consolidated mobility group, we decided to share them with the almost 180 public and private schools of our city, which have the same problem identified initially by the Caldas Institute.
Nearly 30 schools in the city are located on major or alternate roads with a high traffic flow, added to this the citizens' culture makes the most common attitudes are risky and irresponsible behavior both in the driving of your vehicle, ignorance of standards and traffic signs, and prevalence of individuality, that is, the urgency is more important than "I" have to arrive on time to the place where I move, what I can cause or generate due to my lack of knowledge at the time to drive or get around on foot.
In our First Innovation and Creativity Fair, held in October 2018, we invited 15 schools in Bucaramanga to showcase our research projects, including the one for mobility. This space was used to interview some of these students, where we identify that some of them presented the same problems that we have been solving in our institution, since in these schools there are no preventive and promotional measures that allow them to give a solution to the problems that afflict them day by day.
Our proposal this year aims the socialization of our experiences and the collection of strategies implemented for the improvement of those situations, attitudes and behaviors related to the internal and external mobility of the educational institutions of our city.
From the development of "SEMOC one, two, three, mobility without stress" we created a booklet which aim is the development of 3 main contents from which we teach how it should be, mobility; this through a diagnosis, reading images, digital strategies, problem situations, and QR codes that transport the reader to a reality of how to live mobility correctly.
- We started with a diagnostic survey that allows the reader to know what he knows, what he does in his daily life and how he lives as a pedestrian or driver. This survey is scaled at different ages, allowing both boys, girls, adolescents and adults to review their knowledge and contribution to their environment in terms of mobility.
- From the diagnosis, our booklet will lead to the breaking down of the conceptual contents according to the degree of knowledge and expertise of the reader; knowing what a universal transit norm is and which are applied to its cultural context, are initially the course that opens to the development of a basic knowledge and that progresses in degree of difficulty according to what the reader discovers.
- The procedures come to be the treatment of the information gathered in the diagnosis, and that shows how to use strategies to collect the information from the reality of each institution. It is the mainstreaming of content allowing the contribution of all areas of knowledge for the generation of surveys, graphs, models, debates for possible solutions, proposals according to needs.
-All contents are supported by a digital contribution so that you can access in real time to simulations and options such as: traffic in the areas through which you pass, day to share the car, rewards to good drivers and pedestrians, among others interesting options.
-On the other hand, the attitudinal content allows to value the individual and social behaviors that promote sustainable mobility, social commitment that contributes to the improvement sought, facilities for displacement and evaluation of the contribution from the individual and from the institution to the development of their city.
- Within our schedule is the socialization of this booklet in our Second Fair of Innovation and Creativity in October (2019), where they will be invited more than 30 schools in Bucaramanga to show the development of our project, and the strategies they can implement to improve the mobility of their institutions.
We also continued developing the workshops together with the Dirección de Tránsito of Bucaramanga, in May there was the one for students, and in the month of June will take place the one for parents.
Likewise, we continue working on the development of scratch games with the collaboration of the Autonomogamers programming workshop of our institution, to improve mobility in the surroundings such as the Cacique Shopping Center
This is how we, the children and young people who belong to SEMOC, tell you how easy it can be to start their process in each of their schools, and also how building from within, we can contribute to a growth in conscious mobility and sustainable of our city.
Today, we are a seedbed, tomorrow we can be a great team with the help of all of you.
