Renault has made growth in responsible sustainable mobility for all one of the key areas in its policy on social and corporate responsibility.
Sustainable mobility must enable everyone to get around in a safer and more eco-friendly way. Renault Group covers two areas to achieve this:
- The environment – Renault is focused on three aspects that look set to transform the automobile sector in the coming years: the electric vehicle, the circular economy and new modes of mobility such as self-driving vehicles.
- Road safety – Renault sells car benefiting from the best safety technology available, educates people about safety and helps develop responsible behaviour.
As an example, Renault’s educational programme Safety and Mobility For All (SMFA) has already seen almost 15 million young people worldwide educated about this. It targets school pupils with two approaches tailored for their ages:
- The Road and Me teaches 7 to 11 year-old children about the basic notions surrounding safety and mobility. Two series of teaching kits – one for 7-8 year-olds, the other for 9-11 year-olds – provide teachers with tools for covering the basic concepts in a fun way.
- Your Ideas, Your Initiatives targets 12 to 17 year-old adolescents. The pupils develop an awareness about road safety and are taught how to become active citizens capable of initiating change. The educational material is designed as a guide for teachers.
Many schools are involved, all carrying out group class projects using the programme’s methodology.
