Students from the Sabin Drăgoi Pedagogical High School in Deva (Romania) presented a simple but powerful project inspired by the last words of a girl who lost her life in a drink-driving accident.
Every six seconds someone is killed or seriously injured on the world’s roads. Moved by a news report of a fatal drink-driving accident, students at this Deva high school decided to do their part in raising awareness of the dangers of driving while intoxicated.
“We have a message for everybody…. a sad message, but real one from Romania…”
This project aimed to promote safe behaviour on the road and specifically highlight that drinking and driving is never acceptable. It tried to put the message across that you put your own life and lives of others, including children, in danger. If this issue can be highlighted among the friends family of the students at Sabin Drăgoi school, perhaps the message can be disseminated further afield.
They produced PowerPoint presentations, created informative pictures and paintings and made a Facebook page to support their awareness campaign. They also produced catchy slogans such as “Drive slow, keep calm and be safe!” and “Don`t drive like a fool, near my school!”
